My knee problems have not abated this year. I have a torn meniscus diagnosed last year by a doctor in Tokyo (I had an MRI done). That doctor has retired and I cannot get in touch, so I am in search of an orthopedic doctor/knee specialist in Tokyo. Does anyone know of any besides Kimura in Hatsudai or Takahashi in Roppongi? I have been to Kimura, but hope to find someone more focused on knees.

Thanks, Motozo

Has anyone had problems with this area of their knee? (See photo)
It’s over the joint on the outside of my right knee.

It hurts when I run on any slight decline.

It started to play up on me after my attempt at running an ultramarathon last weekend.
I rested it for two days prior to going to get a massage, and didn’t try running again until 6 days after.
Unfortunately I had to give up on the running idea 3km into my slow easy run as I felt the pain coming back.
Aside from when I attempted to do a run, I have had no noticeable pain.

I’ll be going back for another massage tomorrow (8 days after the injury), but would appreciate any advice on good stretches, treatments, and also how to prevent it happening again.

Thanks

Anyone had a hip flexor injury? I had pain during the Tokyo Marathon which intensified toward the end and then went away after about 10 minutes after I finished. It has not been a problem since then until today during a 16K run. Applied ice and the pain eased (the end of the run helped too). I know rest may be the key but what is odd is that it comes on and the “hibernates” for a while even though I don’t rest. This is not an unusual pattern for me.

Can anyone please recommend a doctor in Tokyo (on nearish) who knows about lymph nodes, glands and maybe adrenal exhaustion.

Since two weeks prior to the Tokyo Marathon I’ve had swollen glands in my neck and armpits. I’ve been tested for all the really nasty things - cancer, mononucleosis etc - and given the all clear. But as it’s now been 3 months and no improvement I feel I should see a specialist - if the specialist happens to speak English that would be even better.

At the moment, if I run more than 30 minutes I get really tired the next day and my neck and armpit hurt.

Actually it is the thin muscle that connects my calf and hamstring. It is behind the knee.
I am wondering if anyone has had it and what kind of treatment is recommended.
I have been refraining from running as recommended by my sports doctor. I have been hitting the pool and today tried walking in water after a hard swim with a buoy. But the walk seemed too easy. I couldn’t get my heart rate up. Am I doing something wrong? Perhaps I should just do leg weight training and hard swims with buoys.

Thanks, motozo
