Funny video by a guy who is actually a good marathoner—2:16. Runs with the Hansons group in the US.

http://www.flotrack.org/video/580472-Shit-Marathoners-Say-Shit-Runners-Say

Naked Athletes!

Here are photos of naked athletes from ESPN (US sports network).

Naturally as runners, we are most interested in Ryan Hall, although the guys may have other favorites.

I don’t know who a lot of these athletes are. Apollo Ohno of course is the short track speed skater and Hope Solo is the star of the US women’s soccer team. Jose Reyes is a baseball player, and Steven Jackson is a football player.

http://espn.go.com/espn/photos/gallery/_/id/7030506/bodies-want-2011#/1/

Here is a cool animation of the LA Marathon course for next March 20th. Slightly changed from this year’s course - it now goes through Chinatown and Little Tokyo.

http://www.lamarathon.com/event/course-map/#animated

I love these music and dancing flash mobs that are appearing recently.

Here’s a great one in a mall somewhere in the US.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXh7JR9oKVE&feature=related

There’s another good one in Central Station, Antwerp, Belgium - Sound of Music. Search YouTube

I have 5 or 6 pairs of running shoes that I no longer use. Is there any way to recycle them in Japan. I long ago gave up trying to give these and other clothes to charities as all seem to want new or nearly new things. Too bad since these are definitely in good enough condition for someone who can’t afford shoes.

Hot weather running

Here’s an interesting analysis of running hot weather marathons, using the World Championships in Osaka in 2007 as an example.

http://www.sportsscientists.com/2007/08/marathon-preview-weather-factor.html

And here’s the results. Went according to form, except for Rothlin, but I think he’s not a big guy…

http://osaka2007.iaaf.org/results/gender=M/discipline=MAR/combCode=hash/roundCode=f/result.html

The Ramen festival is held in the Hibiya Park, located next door from the Palace.
This should be a good reason for your motivation!

Interesting article in NYT :

http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/09/16/what-sort-of-exercise-can-make-you-smarter/

BTW - should we have a separate section for news clippings?
