Pete Lyons’ Digiroller

This DigiRoller Plus II digital distance measuring wheel has been used to accurately measure running courses all around the Tokyo area since 2001. Thanks to this mighty device we now know that the famous 5k loop around the Imperial Palace is, in fact, 4,976 meters if you run through the Sakaradamon Gate and 5,024 meters if you stay on the sidewalk for the entire loop. As fortune would have it, we lost a perfect 5k course, but gained a perfect 10k course.
